Free Choice

If you have free choice and are “stuck,” here are some suggestions:

      • Choose a topic of debate that interests you, offer your opinion/argument, and be sure to link back to the specific article.
      • Suggest a topic that should be debated (and provide reasons why), blog about it, the questions that should be asked, your opinion (if you have one), and email the forum your ideas.

      • What it is: a story about a small segment of one’s day or a poem that tells about a small moment in time.
      • The challenge: “If I dismiss the ordinary--waiting for the special, the extreme, the extraordinary to happen--I may just miss my life.” - Dani Shapiro in Still Writing: The Perils and Pleasures of a Creative Life (2013,123)

    • Book Review
      • Blog about a book that you are currently reading or that you’ve recently finished.

    • Metacognition
      • Blog about what you know about what you know. ;-P In other words, reflect on and blog about your progress in my class. Are you growing and learning in reading, writing, speaking, listening, etc.? Are you inspired and motivated? If not, why so? Be nice! :)

Stay tuned for more suggestions throughout the year that are more specific to what is currently happening in our classroom!

Post a Comment

Before posting your comment, ask yourself these questions:
(1) Have I used correct spelling and grammar to the best of my knowledge?
(2) Would I say my comment aloud in class? In front of my principal? In front of my family?
(3) Is my comment helpful or hurtful?
